About

From the early visits of John Wesley to the challenges of being a Church in the 21st century in rural villages and market towns, Methodism's long history in Somerset is entering a new era.

Why PilgrimPeople?

Methodists are organised into societies, collected together into circuits as part of one Methodist Connexion. Joined together as fellow travellers on a journey, it is the collective journey which defines us as much as any geographical or historical associations. The World is my Parish said Wesley, and today's Methodists in Taunton Deane and South Sedgemoor are journeying together towards a new understanding of our place in that world.
You are welcome to join us on the path or watch from the side.

Organisation

Taunton Deane and South Sedgemoor Circuit is part of the Plymouth and Exeter District of the Methodist Church.

There have been a number of changes over the last few years, and the circuit now consists of seven societies - three in Taunton: Temple, Rowbarton and Lisieux Way, two societies covering the Somerset Levels, moors and the edge of the Blackdown Hills: The Levels, worshipping at Middlezoy Methodist Church and Westonzoyland Parish Church and a new combined society - North Curry & Curland. There are two churches in the Bridgwater bay area - Bridgwater and Pawlett. Spaxton chapel has closed, although a house fellowship still meets.

The chapels at Pedwell, Westonzoyland, Curland and Combwich have also stopped being used for worship. West Huntspill transferred to the Weston-super-mare and Burnham-on-sea Circuit (in the Bristol District) on 1st September 2004.
